Add a little spice.

I adore this vibrant orange red color (Valspar Martha Stewart, Mulling Spices). It looks great combined with today's trends of beige and tans. I especially love this warm spice color paired chocolate brown. If you need to liven up a neutral color scheme, add a little "Mulling Spice" to your decor.

Thanks so very much for the many kind words of encouragement from my customers, friends and family concerning my blog. I have had 99 hits to this site since April! Stay tuned for the upcoming summer months, I will have some new additions and ideas. Thanks again for all your support!

French Charming

My latest auction find is this vintage french style chest.
It has great "bones" but the veneer was chipped off in a
few areas. With a little light pink paint and my handy dandy
electric sander, voila... a beautiful new tableau is born!

Never Under-estimate the Power of a Mom!

shabby chic artist, Susan Brown www.susanbrown.net

" My mother said to me, 'If you become a soldier, you'll be
a general; if you become a monk, you'll end up as the pope.' Instead, I became a painter and wound up as Picasso."

He's baaacckk!

Thom Filicia's inspiring design show, Dress My Nest, is back for another season on Style Network. You might remember Thom as the interior design guru from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, where he won an Emmy for Outstanding Art Director. Thom's Dress My Nest airs on Wednesdays at 11 pm on the Style Network. This design show is one of my favorites because of Thom's fun and fresh approach to interior design. He creates a unique and personal style for each of his clients by translating their favorite piece of clothing, jewelry and artwork into their home decor. For more info on Thom and Dress My Nest, check out mystyle.com.
