Mid-century makeover with Annie

The Design Network has a new DIY video series called Paint Anything featuring Annie Sloan of Chalk Paint fame. If you haven't seen Annie in action before, you will be highly entertained. She's a fun-loving no fuss gal with a sense of humor. In this episode, Annie takes on a Mid-century table project where she uses 3 unconventional colors of paint. Before you can blink, she turns out another awesome painted piece. I'm eagerly awaiting the next episode! You can check out Annie's Paint Anything at TDN.

Boho-chic boom.

During a recent visit to the west coast, I became inspired by the Bohemian-chic design trend. In my opinion, "Boho" is the hottest thing going right now. This eclectic, free-spirited, earthy style is everywhere! Did it originate from the 1960-70s hippie movement? Believe it or not, no. The Bohemian movement started nearly 200 years ago. It first appeared in France after the French Revolution when artists were forced into poverty so they decorated and dressed on a budget. Today, Boho-chic consist of vintage pieces, which are usually not cheap, paired with bursts of colors, mixed patterns and textures. In fact, if you want to see a great example of "Boho" style, visit any Anthropologie store. They are experts at creating a Bohemian look. I found a few inspiring Boho-chic examples.
