Manor makeover in High Point.

If you have ever spent any time in High Point, NC, then you are familiar with Pandora's Manor located near the furniture market. This historic home was originally built for a furniture manufacturer's wife (Pandora) in 1905. What makes this manor so unique is that every room was recently renovated by a different A-list Interior Designer....including one of my favorite designers, Thom Filicia. The Design Network is doing a series on the makeover which I found very interesting and highly entertaining. The first episode highlights the original traditional elements downstairs including the gorgeous wood paneling, front porch, etc. There's also a wonderful story about a plate from NC....you'll have to watch! It's now a luxurious upscale bed and breakfast so you can you stay there when visiting the High Point Market....check out more photos on their Instagram page. It's also available for events, including weddings. An overnight stay is on my bucket list!

Interior design trends

I've been a little slack on posting for the blog....it's been over a month! To be honest, I've been busy and I have not found anything worth posting about during the past couple of weeks. However, I have noticed a few design trends that have been popping up on-line and locally in the retail stores. I thought these current trends would be worth writing about because they are totally opposite from my usual design style...I might make a few adjustments in my space at Sleepy Poet! Here are some of the trends....

1. Circular shapes with 80's colors.
Have you noticed the furniture shapes becoming more curved? Also, the golds, pinks and teals showing up everywhere...from lighting, rugs and furniture.

80's throwback gold lamp (West Elm). I had a lamp
like this one in my dorm room many years ago!

2. Marble.
This has been popular for awhile in kitchen countertops but now it is showing up on coffee tables, bathroom counters, etc.
Sleek modern floating marble countertops for the bath.
Marble top retro table (Chairish)

3.  Gold accents.
I have mentioned this before...gold is hot right now. Gold and brass fixtures, lighting, furniture and hardware are extremely popular.

4. Boho.
This is my favorite trend! The bohemian organic look has been on the trend with terracotta pottery, macramé wall hangings and wood furniture. Love this style because it usually involves a curated look with found vintage items!
