Keeping the green

The most popular home decor trend for the upcoming year has to be the 2017 Pantone color called Greenery. It is popping up everywhere! This is a color trend that I am happy to see...a bright green color that adds a little cheerful pop to the sometime boring neutrals that have been so popular on the home décor scene. I have to admit that we have a green wall in our house that I had been thinking about updating to a more popular color over the years. I was having such a difficult time picking a color to replace it because this shade of green was so inviting and happy. Since bright green is making a comeback, I've made the decision to keep the green. Thanks Pantone for finally starting a color trend that we can all appreciate! Below are some of my favorite "Pantone Greenery" examples...

The Girls like a classic Christmas with a dash of glitter

Have you checked out The Girls with Glasses on TDN? I love their fresh style and hip decorating tips...especially their lastest show on holiday decorating. They added simple glitter wreaths to the front door, brought live miniature trees into the kitchen and even painted a cabinet bright red to showcase white pottery and ornaments. For more info on The Girls with Glasses, check out TDN.

Small table with big potential

This little vintage Duncan Phyphe Game Table has multiple possibilities.
It can be folded up for small spaces when not in use.

It can also be folded out and used as extra table seating in the dining room....
or it would be fabulous as a foyer table with a large vase of flowers....
or even a poker table in the man cave!

It also has hidden compartment underneath to hide cards, game pieces, etc.

Check it out at The Brushed Bureau located in the Sleepy Poet.
(Update: This table is SOLD)

Art I heart at Etsy

I was recently searching for artful holiday cards on Etsy and stumbled upon some of the most beautiful artwork. Check out some of my favorite finds....
Love this print of the marsh with lovely pink sunset...there's something
very calming and majestic about this painting (Marendevineart)

One of my favorite artists, Janet Hill, painted this one. Her art is whimsical, elegant, narrative and just entertaining! This piece is called "Party in the other room". Check out more of her wonderful talent at JanetHillStudios.

This is one of the cards that I purchased to send out for the holidays. I adore this artwork from LupiArt (artist, Lucy Campbell). There is a wonderful mystical sense about her masterpieces!

This mother and son artist team creates the most gorgeous mosaics. Above is a Koi table top that is just fantastic. Check out more of their creations at Paradise Mosaics.

She Sheds Unite

This has been a wild couple of weeks here in the U.S. A real rollercoaster ride...from the Chicago Cubs winning the world series to the crazy Presidential election. I have never experienced such highs and lows. And, since I cannot undo the election, it is back to everyday tasks for me. Hillary Clinton might not have won the election but never under estimate the power of a woman. Every woman deserves the right to voice her own opinion, make her own decisions and is entitled to every opportunity in the world. In honor of powerful women and the feminist movement, I am posting my favorite "she sheds" because we also deserve our own space.

All set for the holidays

I've compiled a couple of unique table setting ideas for the holidays from Pinterest. I'm getting tired of the old orange pumpkin and burlap scene. Hopefully, you will find these different and inspiring....

Love this fresh Boho table setting from 100 Layer Cake. The green, teal, orange
and rust color combo would work well for a natural Thanksgiving table.

This table setting was originally created for a wedding. I am digging the color contrast of white and deep greens and purples. It's simple and elegant and could be easily adapted for the holidays!

This is a more creative approach with using pumpkins from Poppy Talk.
I also love the charcoal plate with simple stripe napkin.

This table was done for a brunch but can easily be adapted for the holidays.
Fresh fruits and veggies from the farmers market is a favorite table setting of mine.
It's affordable and fresh change from flowers! This setting is from Domino.com.

On the World Market site, you can design your own table setting with their inventory.
They have a nice variety of patterns and colors!

For more table setting ideas, check out The Brushed Bureau's Pinterest page.

What's in Store for October...

I've decided to do a monthly post for new items added to the store. I realize that I am just getting around to posting October pics when this month is almost over! Sorry for the procrastination... hopefully, I will get it together for November. But, I'm not making any promises!

Clinique Cheron framed poster (SOLD)....perfect for the animal lover!

Small vintage folding chair. I was tempted to paint
this piece but loved the charm of the chippy finish.

Vintage mirror from the 70-80s...antique gold color

Mid-century gold white drinking glasses (set of 7).
Also, Mack Truck Bulldog figurine Limited Edition (SOLD)...
great gift for a Georgia Bulldog Fan!

Collection of glass decanters, glasses, etc. Time to stock the bar cart for the holidays!

Asian bird prints with carved wood frames. I went to an estate sale where the previous owner had beautiful Asian collectible vintage pieces. I also have a few brass vases/planters, vintage paper fan, etc. that are currently for sale in my space.

Check out The Brushed Bureau located in Charlotte, NC at The Sleepy Poet (Space N-14)!

Anticipation on the island....

Check out this 90's home on St. Simon's Island in Georgia. It's the new site of the 2017 HGTV Dream Home which is currently being renovated. I love that HGTV is now buying existing properties and updating the structures instead of building new construction. Below is a preview of work in progress...

It features a pool in the backyard. Looks like great things are in store for this island house. I can't wait to see the big reveal in January. Stay tuned because I am planning on posting pics of the final product.
